Spreading the Ag. Love...

This week my Livestock Evaluation class visited Little Creek Farms near Starkville, MS. Dr. Davis was kind enough to give us a run down on his cattle operation and answer our questions! LCF started in 1992 and they raise Fleckvieh-Simmental and Red Angus cattle. They primarily sell their offspring as either bulls or replacement heifers to other producers. The students had researched Dr. Davis' operation on the LCF website prior to our trip and had prepared questions. My favorite question of the day was this: "What advice would you give to a young person wanting to get started in the cattle industry today?" Dr. Davis replied with, "Buy the best cows you can find, buy fewer of them, and then grow within".
Big thanks to Dr. Davis and Little Creek Farms for allowing our class to come out and visit! It truly meant a lot to the students and myself!

Happy National Agriculture Day!

Some of you have probably noticed all the Agriculture posts on Facebook and other social media venues this week promoting agriculture. I have loved it! Kudos to the people who designed these photos...job well done! Here are some of my favorites from throughout the week:

And of course...this is one of my favorites, Go Cats!

What happens when lab mates play with dye...

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I have posted. Things have been busy but Katie and I have managed to have a little fun! Katie defends her master's thesis in 14 days so to give her a little break we decided to break out the tie dye! She found a recipe for a tie dye cake on Pinterest that turned out to be really neat... Rainbow Tie Dye Cake Recipe
We also tie dyed some shirts...super easy and fun! All you need is a shirt, some rubber bands, and dye (you can buy a kit from Walmart or a craft store). We will definitely be making some more of these!

Here is how our shirts turned out:
